I am a feminist.
I have a powerful body made of solidarity,
Built on the strength of our call for justice,
Found through the fists of time,
Silenced by constant exploitation.
I am a feminist.
I have won that right at least.
Won the right to be disadvantaged,
Won the right to be degraded,
Won the right to be patronised,
Won the right to be relegated.
I have seen the constant waves of hope shattered by relentless oppression,
Seen the links of sisterhood shredded by the myth of doubt.
I have watched apology after apology.
I am a feminist.
And that in itself is a sign of strength.
Reclaiming is in itself a political action.
A sign that this call for justice is never-ending,
That these words are infinite,
Could mean anything,
Can create the vitality of equality.
I am a feminist.
I’ll yell it out into the darkest pits where oppression sleeps,
Take it to the heart of everything,
Speak it into the deafness of the wind.
I will never stop fighting.
I am a feminist.
A feminist who believes in
Justice.
